Anticipate production and consumption

Good energy control considers what is likely to happen next. SmartgridOne combines available device data, weather, consumption forecasts, schedules and configured prices to anticipate grid demand and export, then plan supported flexible equipment around that outlook.

Give the forecast the right inputs

Configure the home's location and PV installation accurately. The solar configurator accepts the total system output or more detailed panel information to improve the production forecast. Connect the relevant meters and devices, and record charging objectives. The forecast uses the information available to the system; individual measurements make specific loads clearer within the energy balance. A well-described installation gives the plan a more useful foundation.

Anticipate buying, using and exporting energy

In predictive battery cost optimisation, the controller combines the expected energy balance with the configured purchase and export prices. Expected solar surplus can influence when storage charges, while expected consumption helps determine when stored energy may be useful. Those prices need to reflect the customer's contract. You can discuss how direct solar use, battery charging and permitted export fit together, so the customer sees which information guides the energy plan.

Connect planning to peak management

A charger is flexible only if its energy request is considered alongside the other loads. Review its schedule with battery control and the grid power limits rather than treating each device in isolation. Peak-shaving settings define when storage responds to grid demand. Forecasts help prepare the plan, but actual weather and household behaviour can differ, and the controller revises its outlook as the day develops. Show customers both the expected plan and its limits.

In practice

Prepare for the evening before it begins

The household expects to arrive home and charge the car during an evening with little solar production. Record the charging target and check the battery's settings against the expected demand and energy prices. The planning view lets you discuss possible earlier charging or solar use. If the weather changes or the vehicle connects late, the outcome can change too; available capacity remains the practical constraint.

Before commissioning

Prepare useful forecasts

  • Check location and PV installation details.
  • Verify available meters and device data.
  • Enter charging targets and the correct energy contract.
  • Review forecasts together with peak-shaving and grid limits.
