SmartgridOne Light · Feature explained

An energy plan that fits your customer's day

A favourable electricity price is useful only when the installation also meets the household's needs. Start commissioning with the customer's routine, then translate it into supported charging objectives, battery settings and power limits. Explain how those choices shape the shared plan.

01 / SmartgridOne Light

Give EV charging a clear objective

Ask when the vehicle normally leaves and how much energy it needs. Charging rules can target kWh or driving range for a recurring departure or a one-off deadline, per connector. Confirm the intended connector with the customer. The connected time, vehicle charging capability and available site power shape the result. Check those practical conditions at handover so the deadline is realistic.

Distinguish a battery target from backup

Battery charging schedules can request a minimum state of charge at specified times when local storage control is active. An active external signal may supersede that schedule. Cost optimisation also offers trading thresholds and a buffer before high-price periods, with documented exceptions. Discuss the customer's purpose for each setting and explain its behaviour. A trading threshold is not automatically an unconditional emergency-power reserve.

Make preferences work within the installation

Device priority gives the scheduler an order when several controllable devices need limited power. It does not bypass grid or device limits. Configure the actual grid system and import/export limits, then test the intended combination of loads. Demonstrate what happens when the car and battery both want to charge. Leave the customer with a practical explanation of which objective matters first and which limits still apply.

In practice

The car leaves early; the battery has another role

During handover, a customer asks for a morning EV target and battery energy for the evening. Enter a suitable charging deadline, review storage settings and check available connection power. Walk through a situation in which both devices need energy. The aim is an agreed configuration that reflects the routine without assuming that every target can be met under every condition.

Before commissioning

Agree these settings at commissioning

  • EV connector, energy target and departure time.
  • Battery purpose, local mode and applicable thresholds.
  • Grid limits and deliberate device priorities.
  • A test of simultaneous demand and a clear handover.
