Find the constraint before choosing the response
Start by checking the current on each phase and the actual wiring of the loads. An EV charger, heat pump and other household equipment may place different demands on the connection. Explain the distinction between a power limit for the complete site and a current limit on an individual phase. A reassuring total reading is not enough when one phase carries much more than the others.
Control what the equipment allows
SmartgridOne adjusts controlled devices with phase current limits in view. Most connected devices only accept a symmetrical command across their phases; the EMS ordinarily controls those phases together. It cannot turn that into independent phase control by software alone. The scope for compensation therefore depends on the supported asset and available power. Review actual phase readings under typical loads to establish how much headroom the selected control can provide.
Commission the measurements carefully
Physical redistribution of badly uneven loads remains the recommended first solution. If the project requires explicit three-phase planning, verify the mapping between meter phases and device connections before enabling it. Incorrect phase labels can undermine the intended response. Test representative load combinations, including simultaneous import and export, and record what the supported devices can actually do. The EMS helps manage configured limits; it does not replace electrical protection or correct wiring.
A charger shares a busy phase
The home's total demand appears reasonable, but a charger is connected to a phase already carrying a substantial household load. The installer checks phase measurements, wiring and the charger's available controls. Reducing charging may help stay within the phase current limit. If the distribution is persistently uneven, physically redistributing loads is more appropriate than expecting a symmetrical battery command to solve every case.
Before you activate
- Check grid system, breaker rating and phase measurements.
- Verify device wiring and any required phase mapping.
- Confirm supported controls and their physical limits.
- Test realistic load combinations; correct wiring where needed.
