SmartgridOne Light · Feature explained

Choose the equipment. Keep one energy strategy.

Your customer's preferred battery does not have to dictate every other device in the home. SmartgridOne Light connects supported equipment across brands, so you can design around the project and coordinate the controllable devices through one local energy strategy.

Start with the exact model

A brand logo is the beginning of a compatibility check. Record the inverter, battery, charger, heat pump and meter models before specifying the EMS. Open each device guide to check the supported communication route and required settings. This makes your proposal concrete: which equipment will be connected, which accessories are needed, and which functions you can actually deliver.

Match the connection to the function

Reading a device and controlling it are different capabilities. For example, the documented Daikin Altherma EHV/ETV relay connection offers boost and block commands, rather than an exact wattage setpoint. The NIBE S-series Modbus connection is being validated for monitoring and does not provide heating control. Describe the available function for that model instead of promising identical behaviour across the whole brand.

Leave room for the next addition

An existing solar inverter, a new battery and a later EV charger can form successive stages of the same project when their integrations are supported. Plan network access, meter data and accessory space from the outset. On the Light M1S, a direct RS485 connection requires an RS485-to-USB converter. Review compatibility again when equipment or firmware changes, and test each added device during commissioning.

In practice

A mixed-brand renovation

A customer wants to retain the solar inverter and add storage and EV charging. Build a device list with exact models and communication requirements first. Then verify the proposed battery and charger connections and explain which controls they expose. The result is a project the installer can substantiate, with one EMS coordinating the supported flexible equipment as the home develops.

Before commissioning

Before specifying the EMS

  • Record exact models and firmware requirements.
  • Check monitoring and control separately.
  • Plan the meter, network and accessories.
  • Test each supported connection at commissioning.
