For a holiday park comprising 50 holiday homes, we deployed our EMS, the smartgridOne PRO, to limit the amount of energy fed back into the grid and to strategically monitor consumption. A 100 kW battery was installed at the grid connection point, which was intelligently controlled by the EMS to ensure that grid limits were not exceeded.
Each property was equipped with a 5 kW SMA PV inverter, which was controlled via API by a single central EMS, the smartgridOne PRO. API control was deliberately chosen because cabling to a central point was technically unfeasible and a shared network was ruled out due to network limitations. This allowed the EMS to individually curtail the PV systems when the battery was nearing full capacity.

The battery was also charged strategically — using both solar energy and the grid — with the aim of reducing the load on the grid at critical times. An energy meter was installed at the head of the system, which was read locally by the EMS for real-time monitoring and control.
