Apply for Internship Software Development

Ghent, Belgium

Job Description:

As a Software Development Intern at Eniris, you work on the software that keeps solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and charging stations running in sync.
Our SmartgridOne controller and SmartgridX platform steer thousands of energy assets across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden.
You join the development team, pick up real tickets from day one, and see your code go live on installations in the field.

Your responsibilities

  • You develop and test features for our controller software, our cloud platform or our mobile app, depending on your interests and study track.
  • You write and validate device integrations for inverters, batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps, using protocols such as Modbus, MQTT and REST.
  • You help build internal tooling that makes our support and engineering teams faster.
  • You document what you build so the rest of the team can maintain it after your internship.
  • You take part in code reviews, stand-ups and release planning, exactly like the rest of the team.

Your profile

  • You are a student in Computer Science, Electronics-ICT, Applied Informatics or an equivalent field, looking for an internship or a thesis project.
  • You have a working knowledge of at least one of the following: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Node.js, React or React Native.
  • Familiarity with Git, Linux and containers such as Docker is a plus, but willingness to learn counts more than a checklist.
  • You are curious about energy, embedded systems and how software controls physical hardware.
  • You work independently, ask questions early, and communicate clearly in Dutch or English.

What we offer

  • A real project with a real deliverable, not a side task invented to keep an intern busy.
  • Close guidance from an experienced developer who is your daily point of contact.
  • Insight into the full stack, from an embedded controller in the field to the cloud platform and the app.
  • An informal work environment in Ghent with colleagues who value transparency, autonomy and a good sense of humor.
  • A concrete chance of a permanent position after graduation for interns who make an impact.
